The subject had a history of depression and had made at least one previous attempt of suicide. He had moved down to San Diego at his family’s request to be closer to family and support. He had left a note with family which led them to believe he was intending to end his life and that he would be making efforts to ensure hikers won’t find his body. His car was found at the parking lot north of the Green Valley falls. Video surveillance of a store had shown him purchasing rope and duct tape. Several factors led to a near zero chance to track the subject including heavy rains prior to the search and the family having searched the area for several days before the scheduled search. The rugged terrain and thick brush decreased the POD and slowed searchers. No subject or signs were discovered during this search. Possibility for a follow up search in the future remains open.
