Trainee Status:

  • Six of fourteen trainees field qualified.
    • Congrdulations to the newly qualified Tim Dahlberg & Monica Graves.
  • Two pending pack checks.
  • Remaining 8 awaiting medical certs, ID cards, DSW cards.
    • Contacted on an individual basis.
  • Forward copies of your DSW & ID card to Will Pisarello when you receive them.

Next Training Committee meeting May 23, 2018 prior to training meeting, next classroom over from training meeting room.

Nav field training, Laguna, 5/18-20/18 – Brian & Bill

  • Note that this training is a week later, due to Mother’s Day
  • Details will be emailed out to Lister before the training.
  • Car camping, Wooded Hills campground.

Sheriff’s tech rope rescue course for RRT-I & RRT-II will be 8/18-19, 8/21, 8/23, & 8/25-26

  • Get certified as RRT-1 or RRT-2 by testing with SDSAR following the course.
    • Certification gets you on the list for tech rescue call-outs.
  • Taught by SDSAR & SDMRT

State SAR Coordinator Meeting

  • DSW discussion. Advice to teams: Ensure training plans encompass full duration of rendezvous to equipment return for complete insurance coverage.
  • Search reviews
    • 2/20 Hetch Hetchy – Allen Chao search
      • Park was extremely depleted of SAR resources during initial search. Many vacant positions and a significant number of SAR away on training.
        • Initial total resources were 6-person hasty team
        • Subject began trail loop in opposite direction from his permit’s itinerary. Permit also stated he would take 1 day to complete a typical 3-day loop.
    • Placer County search
      • Drug / Mental illness subject
      • Subjects remains found (mostly) eaten by mountain lion

  • SD River Park Foundation and many partner organizations collaborating
    on a full calendar of 40 FUN, FREE events for you and your family. Come explore the SD River through community service, environmental education, tours, recreation, & more!
